Robert Hoppe opened his own jewelry store after enclosing the front porch of the family home on South Eighth Street. What began with craftsmanship, determination, and an $8,000 investment grew into one of Eastern Indiana’s enduring family businesses.
A Familiar Downtown Destination
The storefront became part of the rhythm of downtown Richmond, welcoming generations of families for jewelry, diamonds, watches, gifts, repairs, and life’s most important celebrations.

Many longtime customers remember a Hoppe Jewelers filled not only with jewelry, but also bridal registries, fine china, crystal, silver, and gifts for weddings and special occasions.
